Kitchen Renovation Photos
If you follow me at all on Facebook, you're probably sick of hearing about the damn kitchen. I don't blame you! But not everybody's on Facebook, so it's time to do a big photo round-up for everybody else. We kicked off the renovation at the end of January and it's only just now finished. Big thanks go to both of our employers, who were really accommodating about letting us work from home on days where we had contractors in. While most of the work was done by others, we had to do a lot of packing, cleaning, painting, cleaning, unpacking, and more cleaning ourselves. We were without a kitchen for a total six weeks, and I never want to go through that again in my life. If you want to see all the details, just go here. And now for the glorious Before and After...

Before and After

What do you use for sous-vide cooking?

That we do not have, Mr. Toast Man. No sous vide for us just yet.

Wait, so the old oven didn't even have a stove over it?

I did the same thing to the house we sold so we could move to the lake. Sadly when it was finished we moved out in about a week. I think the new range was used only a couple of times before we sold the house. It wasn't as cool as this but I gotta say I was proud of the way it turned out and we did it all ourselves. Not sure I want to do that much again but we are going to be doing new countertops and a tongue and groove pine ceiling with recessed lights.

Wonderful. So not a boring choice!

(I learn so much from reading your blog. I've just had to google 'sous-vide' cooking!)

Jamie - No, it did. The cooktop and oven pictured in both photos are exactly the same. It's an induction cooktop so it just looks like a black piece of glass. :)

Lyn - they do sous vide on Masterchef quite a bit, but I don't think you watch that. It's quite trendy right now. There are dedicated appliances that basically keep water at exactly the right temperature, or you can "hack" one using a thermostat and various other bits (like a slow cooker). We have bothered to ever try it out though.
