Sock Monkeys Galore

Sock monkeys galore!Sock Monkeys Galore!
Well, the Walk Against Want was today, and unfortunately yours truly was too sick to take part. I don’t think this amoxycillin is doing the trick. Anyhoo, I still plan on tackling the distance (15 km) on the treadmill as soon as I’m able. To thank my three sponsors, I spent the day crafting sock monkeys for them. Aren’t they cute? They’re actually much better than the first one I made for the Snook (but don’t tell him that). And don’t forget, if you want one of your own you can enter my Oscar Contest.

  1. if i don’t win the oscars contest, then we need to come up with a way for me to get my mitts on a groovy stripey sock monkey! hmmm. think of a trade? my crafting is currenty limited to marble magnets though, and i know you already make them…

  2. I think the official term is mun-keh in lancashire (well northern English anyway) accent. 🙂

  3. Totally! That inspired me to make my ‘educated’ guesses. I mean, I’ve seen at least one of the movies 🙂

If I win, can you make me a sock ferret?

  5. yeah, love love love LOVE those stripey sock monkehs! man, i’ll send you some extra dough for that going-away care package you’re preparing – for shipping and whatnot, if you could just throw a few of those in! (you KNOW how much i love monkeys! and p.s. baby joey would probably like one, too, but he’s too little to fill out an oscar survey. you need a new plan for distribution.)

I feel that you should *deffo* get a stall at a fair somewhere and sell a few of your monkeys / chickens etc.

It’s good to see good quality original homemade toys rather than manufactured rubbish.

Very impressed with them from the picture!!!

Go! Girl! Go! but only if it makes you happy 🙂

  7. Maybe the doctor should have given you a different antibiotic for the 2nd round. Cause the germs learn how to beat it. So are you getting your tonsils removed or what? No posts in awhile. No Grammy commentary. Starting to get concerned. Hopefully if you had your tonsils out they are giving you lots of yummy ice cream.

  8. Awww, thanks you guys! You might be interested to know though that ALL THREE of my Walk sponsors decided to be selfless Mother Theresa’s and TURN DOWN their free monkeys! I’m going to send them anyway. 🙂

Thanks for the compliment, Weeb! I’m definitely thinking about it. Only problem is that they each take, like, two hours to make. I’d have to do a lot of monkey-crafting on the weekends!

  9. Hi Dan! Actually I’m having some trouble with our home Internet connection so I haven’t been able to post. The Snook’s working on it. I went back to the doctor yesterday and he took a look down my throat. Even though they’re sore they’re not covered in ickiness, so he felt that I should forgo more antibiotics right now. He’s also semi-against getting them removed. (This was a different guy.) So for now I’m just trying to drink lots of fluids and take it easy. Thanks for wondering about me!

  10. Kris,
I meant tell you that I dropped $20 in the mail for you on Monday. I cant get paypal to work from my classroom….and my home internet is SCREWED up right now…so you can expect that coming soon.

  11. Awww, thanks Franchez! I’ll have to make you a sock monkey this weekend. 🙂

  12. Aw, man, those are some great stripey monkeys! My two are of the traditional red heel subspecies.

  13. I’d make some of those, Adrien, but I can’t get the socks over here! (Sidenote: If anybody wants to send me some, I’d make them a monkey in exchange.)

  14. I’d be happy to send you some traditional sock monkey socks in exchange for a stripey monkey!

  15. Deal! I’ll e-mail you my address. 🙂

  16. Woo-hoo! Just got my very own fabulous stripey sock monkey – thanks Kris!! I think I’m going to bring him into work, to enliven our poor drab cubefarm. I will be the subject of much jealousy for my cool monkey pal…gonna hafta lock him up at night.

  17. i also got mine today! all those green stripes, just in time for st. patty’s day. thanks much, kris! 🙂

  18. Oh great! I didn’t realize until after I’d sent them that I forgot to include the “Thank You” notes I had, so you’ll just have to settle for “Thanks, guys.” 🙂

  19. the smile on the monkey’s face was thanks enough. 😉

and hey, is your throat feeling any better? i hope the rain isn’t cramping your health along with your birthday style…

  20. The throat is actually better. The soreness is finally gone. I’ve still got a wet cough, though, which just refuses to budge. It’s bearable though. The Snook won’t tell me what the birthday plans are, other than seeing a play I wanted. I like surprises!

  21. Yeah! I got my sock monkey yesterday, too. It is cute beyond any expectations; thank you! It scares the cat, so I’ve taken Mel’s idea and brought it in to lighten up my cube at work.

  22. Your sock monkeys are very cool !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. Hey there! Just thought I’d say THANK YOU for that magnificent sock monkey tutorial, I’ve just made my own as you can see here (http://photobucket.com/albums/v232/rschong/?action=view&current=WhosDaMonkay.jpg) It’s a present for the boyfriend but I love him to pieces so I might not give it away afterall… 🙂
