I Choo-Choo-Choose You!Are you a Simpsons fan? Are you dating one?
My Snookums is a big fan of the show, and I reeeeally wanted to get him a "I Choo-Choo-Choose You" card for Valentine's Day. (Lisa gave one to Ralph Wiggum in a memorable episode.) Unfortunately I couldn't find one anywhere on the Net, let alone a frame grab so I could draw my own. Frustrated, I posted a plea for help on alt.tv.simpsons. Lo and behold, somebody came through! So I took the frame, enlarged it, straightened it out, and set to work cleaning it up. I even removed Ralph's chubby fingers. Click on the link to see the result! It fits on a normal sheet of paper, and I figured I'd have Kinko's print it on a big sheet of nice stock so I could fold it over into a card. Feel free to print it out and give it to your honey, but if you post it on your site please toss a link back my way.IMPORTANT NOTICE! Despite my asking them not to, people have repeatedly been stealing my bandwidth and placing this image directly on their sites. Let me explain. I have no problem whatsoever with you making a link like this: <a href="http://www.web-goddess.org/archive.php/postID/388">. In fact, thanks for that! That's great. I also have no problem with you right-clicking on the image, saving it to your hard drive, uploading it to your own web space, and embedding it in your web page. Fine with me. What I do have a problem with is this: <img src="http://www.web-goddess.org/img/blog/valentine1.jpg">. When you do that, I have to pay for the extra bandwidth. This is theft. I'm sorry to be so harsh, but this is the third time I've asked people to stop and they're still doing it. I've changed the name of the image several times now and it doesn't appear to dissuade them. If it doesn't stop, I'll seriously consider taking the image down permanently.

Geez, you try and do something nice for the Internet...

FURTHER UPDATE: People are still being assholes. The big image is now being provided as a zip file, which means they can't source it directly. You're still welcome to use it on your site as long as you save it to your own server. Thanks!

You are cooll!!!!! yay! I was also looking for this particular card. sweeet! Thank you so much! :)

» Justine on February 14, 2003

Web Goddess, you saved my day with the simpsons valentine's card :)
» Psyence on February 15, 2003

OH MY GOD. I was looking for the same exact thing you were this year, planning on cleaning it up as best I could. I just started a relationship this week with a really terrific guy, who I seduced successfully with spot-on Ralph imitations, (this being amongst our favorite, what with Black Friday coming up and all). I feel like I'm in a Peanuts episode and I've just found out that the Great Pumpkin exists, only in the form of a Valentine's Day web heroine. And I've directed my other friend to your site, since he is having the worst V. Day in years. A Ralph Wiggum card did the trick, and made him laugh out loud for the first time in days. (FOX is extremely stupid for not marketing this. I absolutely agree. But finding it this way makes it special and cool.) Had it backstage at the show I'm in and EVERYONE wanted to know where I got it. Ralph is an unofficial mascot for us, and we try to work in "Tastes like burning" anywhere we can.

Web Goddess, you absolutely rock for posting this so selflessly for others to download, and probably saved a bunch of Valentine's Days for many, many people. You've probably saved someone's life, who knows.

If there is any cosmic justice, your positive Valentine's Day karma will keep you happy & loved for years and years.

Can't thank you enough. Well played. Happy Valentine's Day!!
» desert girl on February 15, 2003

» Kris on February 15, 2003

Thanks so much for making the Valentine's card available. I've been looking since the beginning of the year for this and now I've come across it, rather late -- er, rather early for next year for my girlfriend, Lisa. It's hard to believe but the names are right. Thanks again!

But I am still very happy that you found the image and worked with it. I was afraid I would have to draw it myself.
» Anonymous on February 4, 2004

I gave this card to my boyfriend after we had been dating for just 10 days. He's such a huge fan of the Simpsons and he said it was the best thing anyone had ever done for him as it was so personally and considerate. Thanks for making it available to me!

» Kris on February 5, 2004

Hey gurl, I read all your comments. The praise for you are all true. You kick ass. My bf and I were talking about the Simpsons Episode where Lisa gives Ralph the Choo Choo Choose you Valentine's day card. He was joking to me about that before,so I decided to search for the card. And when I searched for the card, I found your site. Thanks so much. He'll just be ecstatic. Take care and Have a Happy Valentine's Day! *hugz*
» SweetCutie on February 5, 2004

Thankyou for the card!! Sorry that people have been stealing your bandwidth. That sucks. But, my girlfriend will absolutely love this. She LOVES the Simpsons.

Thanks again :)
» Alan on February 8, 2004

You could zip the card.. That way no one could create a direct image link... Also you could use some http-referer-checking method with PHP or whatever language suits you best.
» Anonymous on February 9, 2004

Thank You! You Rock!
» bt on February 9, 2004

Actually they're linking the thumbnail as often as they link the big one, so even if I zipped the big one they'd still do it. I've been doing referer checking for some time now (which is how I know who's doing it). For most folks, I substitute in an "I steal images. I'm an ASSHOLE." gif, but if there's contact information I try to get them to take it down.
» Kris on February 9, 2004

Awesome Job. What did you put on the inside of the card?

Im giving this to a friend of mine, a girl, so what should I put on the inside?

» James on February 9, 2004

Thank you!!!!!
» Anonymous on February 9, 2004

Thanks Kris for the card. I managed to find a screencap of the Let's Bee Friends card and cleaned it up in Photoshop. You can download it here http://people.ucsc.edu/~newtond/pictures/bee.jpg

» katie on February 13, 2004

I went looking for card on a whim, never thinking I'd ever actually find a useable image. Great work!
» Karl on February 13, 2004

Anthony - I'm guessing you're on Windows... Just click on the thumbnail image up above. You'll get a popup asking you what you want to do with the file. Click the "Save to disk" option and then select somewhere on your hard drive to save it (the desktop is easiest). Once it's done downloading, minimize your browser and go find the file you just downloaded. If you double-click on it, it should unzip and you'll have a jpeg that you can open up and print. (Sorry it's so complicated, but when I made it easy people kept stealing it.)
» Kris on February 13, 2004

you just made my life (and Valentine's planning) so much easier dude, you rock!

» Justin Cider on February 12, 2009

"Justin", this Valentine has been up on the net for EIGHT YEARS and no one has complained about a copyright violation. There are also alternate versions available all over the place. I don't think the Simpsons artists are too worried about it.
