web-goddess: Cleaning services?

Any of you Sydneysiders have experience with cleaning services? The Snook and I have finally accepted that we're on the wrong side of the fundamental paradox of "liking to live in a clean house" and "being totally and completely averse to actually cleaning." And if I learned anything from The Sims, it's that maid service is the primary key to a happy home life. Now we just need a recommendation...

Word. We're in the same boat. I just have a hard time trusting a stranger to come into my home, despite the part about never having to clean a toilet again.

Absolute Domestics. Google for details. If you don't like who they send they'll send someone different next time. I've used them for about two years and have settled to a regular pair of women who are really efficient.

Thank you so much, Mary-Helen. I will definitely give them a ring. I wasn't sure whether it was better to go with an agency or an independent here in Oz. I know in the U.S. it's often better to hire an individual, simply because a lot of the agencies don't pay them enough to survive. But AD looks pretty good. Would you mind dropping me an e-mail with more info about what they do for you and what they charge? If it's not too much trouble. I just want to make sure this is really what we want to do before I waste their time... (I see they iron. Yay! My most hated chore!)

Ah, a tip for other people: You can see the general Absolute Domestics rates if you enter your post code in the box. They don't seem to be anywhere else on the site, so it took me a while to find them...

I can't believe I forgot about them! I totally should've called them up, at least. That would have been hilarious. Of course, it might also suck to pay someone by the hour who spends all the time scrubbing the drain with a toothbrush...
