Not happy, Target!
ARGH. A couple days before I left, I went to Target to pick up some cropped pants to wear to work here. I figured it would be hot in LA so I'd take advantage of the Australian winter discounts on summery stuff. I found some nice taupe capris and tried them on. Great fit! Maybe even a little big. On my way out, I impulsively grabbed the same size pants in black as well. That's what you do, right? When something fits and looks good, you get it in multiple colours! I packed them both in my suitcase, and I wore the taupe pair yesterday. All good. This morning I went to put on the black pair... and I could barely get them over my hips. SERIOUSLY. I double-checked the labels to be sure, but both pairs are exactly the same size. Yet somehow the black ones are at least two sizes smaller. I'm so annoyed. I can't even wear these. And I'd already cut the tags off and everything, so I doubt I'll be able to return them when I get home. How can there be so much variance in IDENTICAL pairs of pants? :(

I have a tagging gun (that shops use). Bring em back and we can re-tag them good as new.

(but yeah, i tried on a size 16 pants there a few weeks ago, good fit but a bit tight - next size up? tighter in teh crotch and thighs, gapey in the waist. WTF? now i just suck it up and buy from Torrid.com)

I was shopping with a fashion student, and she had me trying on two pairs of the same size pants. She said that when they cut the huge stacks of fabric, there ends up being some variance in the top of the pile and the bottom. It still sucks, because I would have done the same thing.

Oh no, Danielle, so what you're saying is when pants fit, they're bottom of the pile rather than me losing weight. Don't go spoiling my illusions. Happens to me all the time, 'fraid to say. I wish I wasn't an impulse buyer.

Take them back anyway (if you kept your receipt). Don't worry that you've cut the tags off. They should take them back if you go for the faulty/misrepresented argument.

So annoying. That's happened to me before with Old Navy.

This has happened to me before with Target, too, sadly. Such a bummer.

The problem is I'm not sure if I've still got the tags or receipt. I chucked 'em in the bedroom trash when I was packing and it all depends on whether Snookums empties the bin in the next two-and-a-half weeks.

Hmm, on second thought, I might be okay. :)
