    Today’s German lesson was about propositions that can take either accusative or dative case, depending on the verb. So I’ve been walking around all day muttering things like “Ich gehe *ins* Bett, aber ich liege *im* Bett.” 🤓

    @lynnlangit I literally recited that this morning! It’s been stuck in my head for 25 years. 😂 (Those are the always-dative ones, so they’re easier than these tricky bastards that change depending on movement.)

    King Ludwig II of Bavaria died 135 years ago *today*, so we decided to visit his island palace at Herrenchiemsee. He wanted his own version of Versailles, and it was truly amazing.     This is fascinating. Yesterday was Loving Day, celebrating the Supreme Court victory in 1967 that struck down anti-miscegenation laws across the US. I wasn’t aware that seven states also included Asians in their laws. Thankfully Indiana was not one of them (though it’s not like the state was especially progressive; they had the law preventing blacks and whites from marrying until ‘67). I have even more respect for my amazing grandparents, and for my Korean grandmother moving to a country where her marriage wasn’t legally recognised everywhere. ❤️ #LovingDay
