    Sad you can’t attend #yowdata next week? There’s going to be a #yownight on Wednesday with founder @daveathomas himself! Thanks to @ExpediaEng for hosting… https://t.co/3pjAOiuxin https://t.co/X6LOIAIGSe

    @emma_n_robbins @starkcoffee @yow_conf @codelikeagirlau Oh fantastic – really pleased you’ll submit! Best of luck with it. 🙂

    RT @cathjones0: Super excited to be attending @yow_conf next week thanks to there great work in #Diversity #yowdata @web_goddess

    @shipra_ships @canva @themaninblue @MelanieCanva Of course! There are just so many folks now whose names I don’t know. 😂

    @randommandelbot Oh. I found it. @gilmae

    OH DEAR GOD. I have somehow only just learned – after 17 years in this country – about the concept of a “shoey”. 👟🍺🤮 https://t.co/Yo3wNMilyC

    RT @iamdevloper: Most of my development career is spent in fear that I’ll need to say the word “idempotency” in front of people.

    @nomiddlename 🤮🤮🤮

    @matthewfellows Of course! So how did I miss *this*?!

    So the shoey thing came from listening to @rejectedjokes’s wine podcast, where a couple comedians claimed to have done it, and I thought they were JOKING, because it is TOO GROSS.

    Richard Feynman and the Connection Machine https://t.co/0j2m6JlWPb – Great read. Love that the first program they ran on it was Conway’s Game of Life!

    @pwcc Contempt culture! Agree.

    @pkr2 I know that. It’s more the fact that it has a name and wikipedia entry specifically for Australia, as if it’s a common occurrence here. My replies indicate that I am not the only Australia that comes as a surprise to!

    I have reviewed the responses to the “shoey” tweet. About 50% of replies are from grossed out Aussies who’ve never heard of it until now; 34% who think everybody knows of it; 2 who’ve actually DONE IT (@stibbons @darthted 🤢); and a couple foreigners.

    If you can’t make it to YOW! Data next week, you can still see YOW founder Dave Thomas himself speaking on Wednesday night at Expedia in Sydney. Should be a good one!

    @gilmae I think my phone (and specifically the game Twenty) is giving me RSI. Yet I still fear to be without it…

    @sebeckmas @shermozle He didn’t know it was yours! Just turned up in a Google image search! 😂

    @starkcoffee @yow_conf @codelikeagirlau Naming things is the hardest problem in tech. 🙂 It was a step away from the previous name (“Women in Tech Speaker Competition”), which had many aspects we wanted to move away from.

    @starkcoffee @yow_conf @codelikeagirlau The goal is to get folks from under-indexed groups on stage at tech events. I was hoping with the new name, we’d be able to expand it beyond just those who identify as women in the future. Always open to suggestions though…

    Whoa, @canva got the Google Play 2018 award for standout startup! GREAT JOB, FOLKS! @shipra_ships @themaninblue @MelanieCanva https://t.co/IEOhBhXJeG

    Great post from @DDDPerth on their efforts to increase diversity amongst speakers at the 2017 conf. Really proud to have been one of the women on stage! https://t.co/lzpbRBVWLJ

    @yow_conf 😆😆(It hurts because it’s true.)

    @Mandy_Kerr @DDDPerth Awww, thank you. It’s easier to be memorable when you’re the last talk of the day! 😂

    @KenScambler @wjlow @frequeno @cwmyers Yasssss. The Lambda Jammers of the future!

    @DDDPerth @Mandy_Kerr ❤️

    I’m totally willing to knit these jumpers on commission for any crypto nerds, by the way. The catch is that they’re expensive and I only take cold hard cash. 😉💰 https://t.co/LRgJywEqY5

    Went to a meeting last week in Melbs in a building that had a “12A” floor instead of 13. 🙄 #superstitious https://t.co/ecRqm1RfAH https://t.co/2WmCdzqWnM

    @gckeller Maybe? The article is from an American site though, and it jibes with my experiences in AU, so it’s widespread enough to be international.
