Knitting as political protest. #knitgate
Realised I was at the pub last night with people from Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft. My inner 22yo geek was freaking out. #livingthedream

Australia’s most economical cars revealed – Wow. The cheapest is still $113 a week. I am going to remember that whenever I get car envy. And considering we rent out our car space, the actual cost for us would be even higher! That’s a LOT of GoGet trips…
Time Team’s Mick Aston dies – I hope they bury him in that lovely stripey jumper.
When Gadgets Should Be Repaired, Not Replaced | Lifehacker Australia – I’ve been trying to adopt a “Fixer” attitude myself. It’s hard with electronics though – most of us think it’s easier to replace than deal with circuit boards.
@drkknits WHOA – THAT’S HUGE. Also, I can now SMS you for free. This is a slippery slope indeed.
@drkknits Set up FaceTime and call me on it! VIDEO CHAT OF THE FUTURE.
@drkknits My most used: Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Hangouts, Toodledo (to do list), TripView (real time bus/train data), Flipboard…
@drkknits Instagram, Weather AU, Consume (tells you how much data/credit you’ve used for Telstra, etc)
@drkknits Touch the app icon and hold. They’ll all start jiggling and there will be an X to delete. You can also drag around in this view.
@drkknits Click home button to stop jiggling/edit mode.
@drkknits No worries. I’m at home for a few more hours today so feel free to hit me up with questions!
@drkknits Do you have username/password for Telstra site yet? You basically give it that and it scrapes from there.
@drkknits Mine is Telstra (Postpaid). Yours might be different if you’re 3G
@drkknits Settings -> General -> Usage -> Mobile Usage will also keep track of how much you’ve downloaded. But you have to reset manually.
@drkknits So I just prefer checking with Consume. Telstra are also good about sending SMS when you get close to limit now.
@drkknits Also, set up Find My Phone at some point: http://t.co/qCqfPLMEDu. This will allow you to find it if it’s lost/stolen.
@drkknits Ah. You might not need Consume then! I didn’t realise they had a nice mobile site nowadays.
@drkknits Did you port your number, or get a new one?
Just had first official FaceTime and iMessage chat with @drkknits. IT’S A WHOLE NEW WORLD, PEOPLE. SHE LIKES IT!
@redambition Isn’t Flickr Pro going away?
@drkknits You didn’t even Instagram it. Fail.
@drkknits Have you tried out Siri yet? I mostly use it for “Is it going to rain?” and “What’s 350 Fahrenheit in Celsius?”
@drkknits Just hold your home button down til it dings, then ask your question!
@drkknits No, Siri shows a little microphone icon. Maybe some setting is different on yours. Dig around in the Settings a bit…
@drkknits Technically you’re not supposed to go iPod -> iTunes, as it’s a way to share your music with all your friends.
@drkknits That said: http://t.co/y3x314SnqM
@drkknits @RoseRed_Shoes Yep. You might need to turn it on though. If you’re on iPad, you need to tell FaceTime to use your email address
@drkknits @RoseRed_Shoes …as your iPad doesn’t know your phone number. Same for iMessage.
@drkknits @RoseRed_Shoes Just go into Settings -> Facetime and make sure it’s turned on and hooked up to both methods.

FUUUUUU. Our power just died. Anybody else in Chippo? @mpesce?
On the plus side, the 250 tea lights I have randomly stockpiled from IKEA are finally coming in handy.
@mpesce The lights are still on the other side of Moorgate. Maybe it’s very localised. Definitely our whole block.
I hope my slow cooker pea soup was done cooking. I guess I might as well eat it – it’s not gonna stay warm!
@mpesce @DrMiaow Friend in building on Buckland reporting her place is dead too.
@drkknits Nah. That is the one failing of Old Reader. Hoping they rectify soon. I just use web version, but it’s not great.
@ausgrid Power is out in Chippendale! What’s going on? Any ETA?
So just to reiterate, @the_snook is in a warm pub eating pizza with Googlers. I’m in cold dark house with two cats who will eat me.
BEHOLD! I tweet to @ausgrid and TWO SECONDS LATER THE POWER COMES BACK ON!
@Ausgrid It just came back! I knew invoking you via Twitter would work. 🙂 Thank you…
@iain_chalmers @mpesce @DrMiaow Mine’s back!
It’s alarming how quickly my brain jumps from “power outage” to “zombie apocalypse”. I DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW TO WEAVE BASKETS YET!
RT @Ausgrid: @web_goddess Wish it always worked like that.
@pixel8ted I’m already booked into a class. I just had to reschedule last month due to illness.

@witty_knitter I hope they bury him with that lovely striped jumper. 🙂
MAKE | New in Knitting: Stitch Maps – Interesting! This is basically how the Japanese write their knitting patterns though, right?
ZOMG. I just made the world’s biggest batch of pork bulgogi. http://t.co/3DrwyZAY3X
