My newest web project, Purple, has finally launched! It’s so fun to see people using this thing that I have created. I think it’s a pretty good “community” site overall. I had originally planned on using phpWebSite for it, but I found myself spending most of my time turning off parts of the thing that we didn’t need. It was too huge and unwieldy for our purposes. Then one day, while doing my workout at the gym, I had a total epiphany and decided to rewrite the entire thing myself. It turned out even better than I expected. Now I’m wondering if maybe other people would be interested in it. I could write some documentation and package it up… Of course, I haven’t even gotten around to posting GoddessBlog yet, so don’t hold your breath. 🙂

  1. Oh, Howie, it looks fab! I am so glad to be a friend of the Weas (NOT Pauly Shore).

  2. Friend of? Heck, you’re an Honorary Weasel, girl! Seriously, I’ll even give you a login at the site, if you want. (I offered it to the Snook, but he turned it down, the party pooper.)

  3. Rock on! I can’t wait for you to reveal GoddessBlog. I’m definitely going to give it a try. I need to get away from Blogger and YACCS and start utilizing the services that my webhost offers. I pay for it, right, I might as well use it. 😉

  4. Yeah, you got PHP and MYSQL? I might use you for a guinea pig then and give it to you first to help me work out the bugs. 🙂

  5. Sure, why not? I wouldn’t mind. I think I got both PHP and MYSQL, but I’ll double check tomorrow and let you know. I’ve got company tonight! Woo! EASports Supercross Series Las Vegas! ;P

  6. Sweet. I’ve just done a backup of the site, so I’m all ready to begin work (again) on GoddessBlog. You’ll be having more fun than me tonight! 🙂

  7. All right. I double-checked my account… I know that I have unlimited MySQL, but it didn’t say anything about PHP. I’m pretty sure that I have PHP, though. I asked the service guys once if I could run Moveable Type and they said yes, so I believe that everything would be fine to run GoddessBlog. Woo! Drop me an email and let me know when you’re ready.

  8. Hmm, MT uses Perl, which is different though. I’d guess if you have MySQL, you’ve got PHP though. You might need to ask them to activate it. If you wanna see if it’s installed, just download this little text page I made for you. Save it to your hard drive, rename it “test.php”, and then upload it to your web space. Then browse to it. It’ll tell you if PHP is installed or not.

Okay, so you work on that stuff… and I’ll continue working on my documentation and crap. 🙂

  9. Woo! It worked! So now I guess I’m ready when you are. 😉

  10. Kickass! Okay, I’ll work on it some more today. In the meantime, you’ve got a big chore you should get started on – migrating your posts from Blogger. I’m gonna send you an e-mail telling you how I did it.
