Not all Americans are stupid… but according to this quiz, I pretty much am. Ouch. I got 14 out of 20. In my defense, it was mostly the geography ones that I missed. Never been too good at that… (Link courtesy of Brigita, who is way smarter than me.)

  1. i scored 16. what does an electrical engineer know about art?

  2. Heh. I might’ve missed the Botticelli one if I hadn’t seen that actual painting about six months ago… 🙂

  3. I only got 13. Yikes.

I don’t do well under pressure.

  4. woo — 16. But I think the questions might change — I didn’t get one about Botticelli, had Mona Lisa instead… might take it again!

  5. I got 15; I feel better knowing that I’m not the only less-than-bright American. I got Mona Lisa rather than Botticelli as well (good thing, since I got that one right and don’t know much about art).

Kris, I’m hoping that you didn’t miss the one about the capital of Austrailia. 😉

  6. Got 16–interesting that the questions change! As I said on Brigita‘s site, I don’t necessarily see the “knowing random world trivia = not stupid” connection, but I’m always a sucker for a quiz in any case.

  7. I got Australia right! I did, however, miss on New Zealand’s capital. D’oh!

I agree, Jeff, about the pointlessness of using random trivia to prove intelligence. I was kinda hoping that the quiz would be about world affairs and such, to hopefully show that Americans aren’t as insulated as everybody thinks. I have a horrible suspicion that the results for that kind of quiz would’ve been even worse for us Yanks though…

  8. Yikes….I teach kindergarten and some of those world facts are things I havent had to use in years….I scored 13.
