Maybe he is more a writer’s writer than a scientist’s writer – Michael Moorcock opined “Dick quietly wrote serious fiction in a popular form and there can be no higher praise”, and I think it was Brian Aldiss who referred to other authors of the time as now seeming like “navel-gazers in a cul-de-sac”.

Yes, we’ve done that one. 🙂 But why, anyway, did the survey ask for favourite films and authors rather than films+directors or books+authors?
