Trivia Update

Trivia Update: We had a very respectable 2nd place finish tonight, made more remarkable by the fact that there were only two of us. (We were really hoping for 1st to secure the $70 bar tab for Kenya‘s birthday this weekend, but we were once again trounced in the second round by our nemeses, the old fat guys.) Here are your questions for the night:

  • Name four of the sequels to Planet of the Apes. (We pulled two of these out of our ass.)
  • Name three of the six one-word #1 singles for Fleetwood Mac, other than “Rhiannon.”
  • Which TV show featured the lyrics: “I’m the unknown stuntman that made Redford such a star”? (My Dad will be proud to know I got that one right.)
  • Give the maiden names for Princess Mary of Denmark, Hilary Clinton, and Margaret Thatcher. (Props to Amy for her “assistance” on that last one.)
  • Name the five most popular sports in Australia in terms of attendance at the grounds.

We missed out on all four jug questions tonight, I’m ashamed to say. Not a great showing.

  1. I just know (or can guess) the obvious ones here:
Return to the Planet of the Apes?
    Landslide
    The Fall Guy
    Rodham (sp?)
Guesses here: cricket, rugby, soccer (football), …

  2. Actually your first two answers were guesses we had… and they’re both wrong! (Landslide must have been done solo.) Fall Guy and Rodham are right. Unfortunately “rugby” is too vague – there are two different versions here plus Aussie Rules football!

  3. Dreams and Tusk? That’s all I’ve got.

  4. Those are both right! (I can never remember “Tusk.” Wasn’t that Liz’s favorite? It’s come up in trivia a couple times and I just sit there going: “I know it starts with a T… and it has these drums…” and I can never remember the friggin’ name!)

  5. All I could think of for The Planet of the Apes films were “Beneath” and “Battle for” but the Sn00k looked up and told me the rest ๐Ÿ™‚
Fleetwood Mac, along with Eileen’s answers, I can think of “Gypsy” (great song, love the Stevie) and “Everywhere” (I have the Greatest Hits).
Fall Guy for sure, though I always remember the line “I’m the unknown stuntman that makes Eastwood look so fine”.
Donaldson, Rodham and erm… Thatcher has a maiden name??
Sports… pfft don’t know… guessing at Australian Rules Football, Rugby League, Cricket, Rugby Union and um, Soccer?

  6. We guessed the same sports, with the exception of tennis for soccer. The answers were: AFL, League, Cricket, Basketball, and Horseracing! The Snook doesn’t think basketball should count since they give away 2-for-1 tickets on Coles Shop-a-Dockets.

  7. Life, Liberty and Pursuit on the Planet of the Apes. Don’t ask me why I remember this.

  8. Interesting… but *not* one of the answers we were given. According to “Sapphire” or whatever the hell her name is, the correct answers were “Escape from the Planet of the Apes,” “Beneath the Planet of the Apes,” “Battle for the Planet of the Apes,” and “Conquest of the Planet of the Apes.”

  9. that guy is tripping on too much monkey juice ๐Ÿ™‚
