Appreciation

How do you show appreciation to the one you love? I think that’s a great question, and some of the answers people gave are really touching. I especially liked this description of the “five languages” of love. While a bouquet of flowers or a love note would make me swoon, the Snook is of a very different sort. I think I’ve finally got him pegged though: tonight I brought him a PBJ sandwich and a cup of tea while he was playing World of Warcraft. I am the Best Wifey Ever right now… 🙂

  1. My husband is a full-time non-traditional student during the academic year. (He’s 35 and in college full-time). Anyway, sometimes he gets frustrated because some things are on hold until he is done with school. A year and a half ago I made him a card in microsoft publisher telling him how proud I am of him, how much I respect him and his drive to better himself, listed everything I love about him, appreciate about him, and think of as sexy about him. I used pictures from when we were dating and included examples from his favorite books. I slipped the card into his Algebra notes (his hardest class) on a day I knew he had a test and would be studying before class. When he found it he came home a VERY happy man because it was out of the ordinary for me to do something like that. I noticed just yesterday that he still keeps it in the backpack with him. I asked him why and he told me that it makes him feel loved and appreciated every time he sees it. The little things in life…. that is all it really takes!

  2. Very true. I just found the MetaFilter discussion interesting because while I would appreciate something like that, I don’t think the Snook would. I mean, he would, but there are other things he’d like more. It’s funny how everybody’s different!
